Adolescent creștin ucis în proteste din Irak

If you follow persecution news, it’s easy to get depressed as you view the worldwide Church. In persecution ministry, we encounter the worst of humanity and you might think that’s the whole story.

But from where I sit, constantly bombarded by a never-ending stream of bad news, I have learned to look at the world with spiritual eyes, to look at the world from God’s perspective.

When I do so, it changes everything.

The Middle East

For example, look at the Middle East. A few years back, I sat with the pastor of the largest church in the Middle East. I asked what effect ISIS was having on the Church. I braced myself for the bad news as he paused, but what he told me blew me away.

He said, “ISIS is the evangelist, I am the baptizer.” In other words, ISIS had caused many to question Islam and to walk away. The horror of ISIS had awakened an interest in Christianity and many were coming to the church.

Look at the news on the Middle East and you will be discouraged. In Syria, the war has caused 500,000 Christians to leave. In Iraq, the Christian population has fallen from 1.5 million to 150,000.

Pretty bleak right? Ahhh, but now for the rest of the story!

The Greatest Evangelist to the Muslim World

I recently spoke with Brother Rachid, arguably history’s most impactful evangelist in the Middle East.

As I interviewed him for my podcast, Into the Deep, he shared his testimony of how he broke free from a hardline Islamic upbringing and gave his life to Christ in Morocco. Following this radical transformation, he spent his time evangelizing and discipling Muslim-background believers. He was eventually discovered, though, and had to flee Morocco to save his life.

Sitting in the safety and prosperity of the US, his heart was broken for his lost people back in Morocco. He could make no sense of the path that had landed him in the US.

That was until he was picked to be the face of a new satellite TV show to bring the Gospel to Arabs. That was 16 years ago and since then he has touched Muslim seekers from Algeria to Iraq to Egypt…and to the whole Arab speaking world!

The Lord has used him far beyond his imagination. In fact, I know of no other single person who has brought more Muslims to Christ.

The truth is, the Gospel is spreading like wildfire across the Middle East, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.

While there is plenty of bad news regarding the Middle East coming across your news feed, the truth is the Lord is always working behind the scenes, behind the pain, and behind the tragedy, to bring the dead to life.

24 Alți protestatari răniți în violența din Piața Tahrir

27/02/2020 Washington DC (International Christian concern) - International Christian Concern (ICC) a aflat că un creștin asirian în vârstă de 15 ani, numit Rimon, a fost ucis de forțele de securitate irakiene, în timp ce a protestat în Piața Tahrir marți, 25 februarie. a fost vizat și ucis cu o pușcă de vânătoare. Alți douăzeci și patru de protestatari au fost, de asemenea, răniți în timpul violenței din cauza împușcăturilor și lacrimilor.

În urma acestui incident, comunitatea creștină irakiană jeleste pierderea unuia dintre membrii săi. „ Protestarea în Bagdad a luat o mulțime de suflete. Rimon se număra printre ei și avea doar 15 ani ” , a declarat pentru ICC o femeie creștină locală. „ Nu-mi imaginez cât de tristi sunt parintii lui Rimon. În fiecare zi pierdem multe suflete; cineva trebuie să facă ceva pentru a opri acest masacru ” , a adăugat un alt protestatar creștin.

Un proprietar local al magazinelor din apropierea protestelor a spus: „ Direcționarea protestatarilor prin vânătoare de arme este o crimă. Nimeni nu ajută cetățenii irakieni . ”

Mentorul lui Rimon la biserica sa a comentat: „ Tot ce a făcut a fost să caute un viitor mai bun.” Un coleg al bisericii a răsunat: „ Sunt atât de trist pentru Rimon și părinții lui. El a fost acolo pentru a cere o viață mai bună . Aș fi putut fi eu în locul lui. De fapt, ar fi putut fi oricare dintre noi acolo. “

Violența de marți vine la aproape 150 de zile de la începutul protestelor. Rapoartele indică faptul că peste 600 de irakieni au fost uciși de la 1 octombrie, protestând împotriva corupției guvernamentale, șomajului ridicat, serviciilor publice insuficiente și interferențelor străine. Protestele au fost inițial aprinse pentru îndepărtarea Lt. Genul Abdul-Wahab al-Saadi ca comandant al forțelor de combatere a terorismului. Popularitatea sa răspândită după conducerea sa în înfrângerea ISIS a stârnit demonstrații care au crescut atât ca mărime cât și ca intensitate.

Directorul regional al ICC pentru Orientul Mijlociu, Claire Evans, a comentat: „Ne rugăm pentru familia lui Rimon și pentru ca pacea să vină într-o regiune care a înregistrat o violență crescută față de creștini. Lăudăm pe Dumnezeu ca refugiu și turn puternic, pe care El este pentru frații și surorile noastre persecutate în Hristos, care continuă să îndure atât de mult. "
